Webmaster & Website Updates

March 1, 2007

Aloha Members and Friends,

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Bill Fleming and I live in Buffalo, NY and sail out of Wilson on Lake Ontario. I have been a life long member of Tuscarora Yacht Club (www.tycwilson.com). I am proud to say that the Fleming Family is now a 3rd generation family at TYC. My wife Christine and I have two daughters ages 5 & 7. We have owned our A32, Valkyrie, for about 5 years. Before that we sailed a Pearson 26 for almost 15 years. I have been a long time Aloha fan and I am thrilled to have such a fine family cruiser.
I have been enjoying the Aloha Owners site for quite sometime and would often chat with Keith Denham about the site and offer my assistance if ever needed. I never thought it would be in this capacity, as webmaster. With Keith’s sudden passing Aloha member Dennis Clarke and I have been emailing and planning on how to continue Keith’s work with the website. I will say that our beloved alohaowners site is one of the best, most informative and most visited owner sites available. It will be a challenging job to continue Keith’s work. Just reading the forum shows how much Keith will be missed and how well he was thought of.
I eagerly look forward to acting as the webmaster and I want to thank Jo-Ann Lawson and Dennis Clarke for everything they have done. Dennis is the reason the site is still online. He took care of all the arrangements, transfers and acted as the liaison between the AOA and the Denham family. It was a difficult task during this difficult time. Thank you to both Jo-Ann and Dennis. I would also like to thank Chris Holderness who has taken over the Matilda Owners website and has offered to help me with some "behind the scenes" issues here at AOA.

Donation Requests

Finally some housekeeping issues to deal with. There are costs associated with the web site and I know that many members have contributed to help keep the site up and running. I assume that Keith paid for most expenses out of his own pocket. The annual costs includes the fees for hosting the site and the fees for registering the domain name, Alohaowners.com . If each member would donate a minimum of $5 or $10 we could keep the site active. I understand not everyone will be able to contribute, so please be generous. ALL FUNDS WILL GO TOWARDS ADVANCE PAYMENT OF HOSTING SERVICES AND DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION. I have already paid for the next years hosting and I am asking that members support the site with a contribution. A link has been added to the AOA website to donate via Paypal. Paypal is the preferred way to submit payment because they convert the funds to US (for me) and it is better for record keeping.  If you do not have a Paypal account you can still send money using a credit card. It is a secured and trusted site and no credit card information is shared with AOA. There is a slight processing fee with each transaction, so please keep that in mind when donating.

For those who would like to send a check, send to:

Town of Tonawanda Police Department
ATT: Detective William Fleming
1835 Sheridan Dr.
Kenmore, NY 14223

Make checks payable to: William Fleming

Donation records will be kept by me and I will share this information with AOA’s “Second In Command”, Dennis Clarke for accountability purposes.

For those members who would like to contribute, have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at anytime. I will be working on updating the site, as there are many emails and changes that need attention. There are preliminary discussions regarding a 2008 rendezvous, wouldn’t that be a wonderful tribute to Keith!

Thank you for your support and patience.
