Topic: Small Air Cleaner for Westerbeke 21A (& maybe others)

The big plastic air intake box that comes stock on a W-21A can be quite a chore to work around.  Even a simple oil change becomes a hassle when that item is in the way.  This prompted me to look for a smaller replacement. 

I found that, with a couple of small parts machined from aluminum, I could mount a standard small aftermarket round air cleaner that is available from most auto parts stores in the US.  Attached is the drawing for the base plate that I used.  I mounted it to the stock intake manifold, then bolted a short cylindrical piece to it & mounted the little air cleaner on the outside diameter of the short cylinder.  The cylinder could be made out of a machinable plastic like Nylon if you wanted to. 

It's a pretty compact little mount.  I can even get to the oil fill with it in place, if I use a short flexible tube or long necked funnel.
